Great Tunes in a range of styles,

On buying this, I expected something pretty folky, even though the members of Jethro Tull pop up here and there. What I got was a great album with a range of different styles and some humour. The song 'I Told You So' is a comic song in the style of The Andrews Sisters (would you believe). 'Mother And Child' is a sad song with minimal piano accompaniment whereas 'Rosettes' has a distinct erotic subtext (well I think it does!). This is one of my favourite albums and much better than I expected - I must add that all 11 songs were composed by Maddy Prior herself, obviously an under-used songwriter.

I have not heard this album for many years and my vinyl copy is a bit worse for wear. Finding this on CD was terrific.Brings back so many memories. |
