Unless you were there, I find live albums to be a bit of a waste of time and money, especially when the pieces played are done so in a way that almost mirrors the original studio version. Tangerine Dream live albums, though, tend to be totally different, mainly because the contents have not appeared previously in a studio form. `Logos' is just such an album, recorded at the Dominion Theatre in London in 1982.

It comprises just two tracks, the first (the title track) being forty-five minutes in length, the second (`Dominion') almost six minutes. This latter takes the form of a wordless 1980s pop song. But it is the mammoth `Logos' track that craves attention. It does lose its way somewhat in its third quarter, but nevertheless it has some fine moments. My favourite is early on when out of nowhere comes a line of triple repeated notes followed by two grounding notes to create a cadence: against this line rises a theme akin to a bird soaring into the air. This passage rightfully receives warm applause when it comes to an end.

Interesting cover shot of the group surrounded by their equipment on stage. How much of that can now be contained in one small box?

5.0 out of 5 stars I was there!, 1 April 2007

I couldn't believe it when this album came out because I was actually there at the time.

Why did the announcer say 'thankyou for being patient"? That was because the entire audience had been kept out on the pavement of Tottenham Court Road for about an hour after the concert was supposed to have started - before finally being let in.

It adds a bit of frisson or memory to an excellent album
