5.0 out of 5 stars File under Easy Listening - NOT!
Yeah, bought this in '82, aged 14 - along with Dead Kennedys' Plastic Surgery Disasters, the other classic from that year. Nothing on the face of your earth prepares you for this sonic assault. Nothing. Heavy metal, eat my shorts, you lame losers, you fakes! Rise Above kicks off like they mean to go on, a spiralling, pummelling thrash of positive electricity that says...

Damaged? Their musical prowess certainly is. Unlike certain albums that show a groups musical talent, this tells us how good Black Flag are: complete and utter rubbish. If you like Black Flag, listen to them, as you are obviously so musically deprived that anything with musical credit would cramp your.....'style'. There is no point in even glancing at this album, the odds...

5.0 out of 5 stars Visceral and lacerating, superb....., 16 Sep 2010

I'm 49, I listen to and play classical music and my musical taste usually runs to ambient stuff like Solar Fields or Christian Fennesz. I'd never heard of Black Flag until I was looking up Henry Rollins who played A.J. Weston with such intensity in Sons of Anarchy season 2. Point is I'm old enough to remember the original punk bands who, with the possible exception of the Clash and Siouxsie, I always found deeply disappointing. This makes the Pistols etc., as well as any Metal bands, sound like a bunch of pussies. It's superb, visceral, lacerating stuff which pins you against the wall. Henry Rollins bellows and howls, and yet it's powerful and musical. Great Stuff, I wish I'd discovered it years ago!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hard. Core. Punk. Rock., 22 Oct 2006
This review is from: Damaged (Audio CD)
It is fast.

It is loud.

It is raw.

It is offensive.

It is awesome.

Henry Rollins delivers the lyrics with such anger and contempt, that it makes your skin crawl. The music is hard-hitting and uncomprimising. The lyrics are insane, and brilliant. This whole album is incredible. A must buy for any punk fan.

There is no point in even glancing at this album, the odds are it was used by the Japanese in their torture chambers. Complete and utter RUBBISH!!!
