5.0 out of 5 stars An Earthmoving album of classic Chicago Blues from 1978, 19 Aug. 2014
This review is from: The Earthshaker (Audio CD)
Another great Chicago Blues album from the Queen. This time from 1978, just after she had turned fifty years and ten years on from her earliest recordings on Charly / Chess labels. This one features nine songs including Willie Dixon's "Wang Dang Doodle" that she not only made her own, but recorded it several times. There are two other Dixon numbers: Spoonful (made famous by Howling Wolf) and "Hey, Bartender". The album opens with the number made famous by Ray Charles, "Let The Good Times Roll" and there is her version of Muddy Waters "I'm A Man" (in this case "Woman").
Add another four tunes, all of the same standard you have a very good blues album.
The seven piece backing band is excellent.
