5.0 out of 5 stars Pre emptive Strike
I still have to get this CD after being mucked about by a supplier but heard most of it as I had some boot leg copies of most of the stuff so looking forward to this, sad that both Betty Thatcher and Michael Dunford have past away in recent years, still the music is their enduring legacy just adore Annie Haslam's voice it's a crazy reality for me that I never folowed them...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, but...
I think "Azure D'Ore" was the last great Renaissance album. This one, though it has some fine moments (Camera Camera, Bonjour Swansong), never comes close to the level of the albums produced by the group in the 70's, including the above mentioned album from 1979. I think "Azure D'Ore" was the last great Renaissance album. This one, though it has some fine moments (Camera Camera, Bonjour Swansong), never comes close to the level of the albums produced by the group in the 70's, including the above mentioned album from 1979. The change of the course was too radical (from lush orchestral arrangements in "Ashes Are Burning" or "Novella" to the sleek techno-pop sound of the 80's). And if in some other cases as Genesis, for example, it worked, Renaissance didn't succeed to pull it through. For the completists only.

3.0 out of 5 stars A few good tunes, but definitely a victim of the period, 12 Dec. 2013

Apart from the tracks Bonjour Swansong and Ukraine, there's not a great deal here to get excited about. The sleeve notes explain this well: in the early 1980s, Renaissance felt they had to "move with the times" and synth pop was not such a good choice for them. Some of the other tracks do have the rare moment of the old genius, but too often the "prog" element just doesn't really work.

3.0 out of 5 stars Renaissance?, 8 July 2013

It is interesting for the open minded Renaissance fans. Open minded, because it is totally different than the classics like Prologue, Ashes Are Burning or Sheherazade.
