I bought this guide on the recommendation of an expat forum for Dubai, and I'm really glad I did.
I have recently accepted a job which will involve me relocating from England to Dubai and wanted to know what I was likely to find there before I agreed and signed my contract. This book has answered every question I have had (saving so much time not having to email my company's PRO).
The book is divided into easy to use and logical chapters. The first is a nice general overview of Dubai and Emirati history, a few geographical points of interest as well as some useful facts and figures on the population. The following chapters give very detailed but clear to follow instructions on the process of accepting a contract and all the necessary things that may be included with that (such as health tests for visa applications, etc). There is a chapter on moving home and another on family and education. Even those chapters that hold little personal relevance have been interesting to read. The book finishes with a few chapters on the more social side of things, good places to go (including personal recommendations from the authors). These chapters would be interesting to the tourist, not just the migrant.
All in all and amazingly helpful book. Am thankful to the forum for recommending it and can only really pass that on. This is a book from a collection that I will buy more from. Truly glad to have it, as it's really helped and I'm not even there yet!
