After a year in Norway this has covered most of my requirements even as my language skills have improved. Of course it's limited compared to thicker tomes and the font size is small but the compromises necessary to get it to fit easily into your pocket have been sensible ones.

For the more occasional traveller it should prove of great benefit but only if you're aware of basic norsk pronunciation for which you must have prior access to a CD, DVD or live Norwegian!

It's smaller than I was expecting: eminently pocket-sized no doubt, at the expense of restricting the number of words listed.

The positive feature of this dictionary is its size: it definitely does fit in a pocket.

The English-Norwegian section is OK for general use. As an earlier reviewer commented, the Norwegian-English section could be far more comprehensive if the obvious words were simply dropped. As it stands, it's not much use either for tourism or business use.

One peeve is that the English-Norwegian section shows the pronunciation of English words in IPA, but the Norwegian-English section shows the Norwegian words in some form of figured English pronunciation.

The reason that it's smaller than people were expecting is because it's smaller than the description given (for the 2007 edition). What you are getting now is the 2011 edition at 7.5 x 10.6 x 1.8 cm. Same number of pages so the print font will be smaller I would say. Still a useful little dictionary that won't wear out your pocket and now uses less trees.

Off to Norway in a few weeks and this looks likethe ideal companion for the trip. As with all Belitz dictionaries it is very comprehensive for the traveller.

Very useful to help my (very rusty) Norwegian, particularly since the language has changed appreciably since 1962 when I was last there.

Easy to use, covers lots of words. Gives good pronunciation tips along with the phonetic sounds required to make yourself understood

A useful little dictionary containing a good range of basic everyday vocabulary. Highly appropriate for a first visit to Norway.

Just the job for a trip to Norway- not too bulky or heavy to keep in the pocket and it served us well.

Bought for a holiday in the fjords but I haven't been there yet so not sure how helpfulit will be. From what I have seen of the content it looks pretty useful although I am aware many Norwegians speak very good English. It is extremely dinky and truly pocketsized.
