This review is from: Private Dispute Settlement: Negotiation, Mediation, Arbitration (Hardcover)
There are only a few good books on arbitration in the world, to-date. Mustill & Boyd, Redfern & Hunter and Merkins are examples of fine academic books. However this book is outstanding in its own class and league. I have no doubts that this is the best book on learning about arbitration. The instructions are in text, visual and audio. There is also a computer software for lawyers and arbitrators to do calculations on quantum, predicting risks, etc.

Law students need this book because they get to learn all about arbitration, which once upon a time, they have no idea what actually happens during arbitration proceedings.

Arbitration practitioners and lawyers with less than 20 years of experience must buy this book. Read it, learn from it and enjoy it. Arbitrators can learn ALL about complex international arbitration from this book. There are some 'dramas' in this book such as a party challenging the jurisdiction of the tribunal to an Arbitral Tribunal member who is 'unhappy' with his arbitrator colleagues and refused to participate in the making of the award. Read his 'nasty' letter. Also see how arbitrators prepare their bill$ for $ervices rendered as arbitrators (there is even a mock Invoice!). Get the book to experience all these!

This book is also a must for businessmen doing business internationally. There are videos of negotiations and mediations of business disputes. There is also a quote from Prof Martin Hunter (Professor of Law at Nottingham University; Barrister & international arbitrator) about lawyers 'not being too helpful' in negotiations....

Dr Klaus Peter Berger of CENTRAL at University of Cologne is a superb arbitration learning and teaching 'technologist'. This book is a prequel to a 2002 book "Arbitration Interactive" (also with DVD). It is a Hollywood style of learning & teaching. Those familiar with the 2002 book will immediately recognise the actors (internationally renown arbitrators) now incorporated into the 2006 new book.

Buy this book. You won't regret it. 5 star for content and also another 5-star for the price (really excellent price at 75). Two volumes, elegant hardcover and binding.
