I only can say, this is REALLY an excellent book about the Ol'(True)Skool New York graffiti!! It brings you back to 1973-1978. Sure there is the bible "The Faith of Graffiti" by Norman Mailer and Jon Naar and others like "Graffiti Kings" by Jack Stewart, "Early New York Subway Graffiti 1973-1975" by Keith Baugh and of course "Classic Hits" by Alan Fleisher & Paul Lovino. Graffiti a New York totally fits in this line!!!
The story behind this book is very interesting. I quote: Graffiti a New York is a unique editorial project as it this is a re-edition of a book that was never published. In 1978, and just back from the USA, Andrea Nelli graduated in Letters. His thesis was published; the book came out thanks to Lerici, a small publisher from Calabria. A few months later Lerici went bankrupt, Graffiti a New York disappeared from the shelves, lost in the storerooms of small bookshops. So today it's back on the shelves again!! If your interests lay in the origins of todays graffiti, I can highly recommend this book!! With never seen before photo's of Masters like Coco 144, Junior 161, Snake 1, Joe 182, Lee 163d, Flint 707 and many more. The book is also printed on beautiful paper. Thank you very much Mr. Nelli!!
