5.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Book., 13 April 2014
This review is from: Don McCullin: The Impossible Peace: From War Photographs to Landscapes, 1958-2011 (Hardcover)
An excellent collection of images from Don McCullin. Of course some of the images of war are disturbing and this is no bad thing because it shows the reality of such conflicts and the terrible consequences for ordinairy people. Don's landscapes are dark and brooding but beautiful nonetheless. A great book from a great photographer. Highly recommended!

This review is from: Don McCullin: The Impossible Peace: From War Photographs to Landscapes, 1958-2011 (Hardcover)
Don McCullin specialised in war and emotional photography and he does a superb job. Vietnam, Northern Ireland, other zones of conflict are brought vividly to life; they are however very dark and disturbing
His later work is of landscapes and some still life. Unfortunately, though, his earlier work seems to still haunt him because the landscapes are dark and broody. His still life flat and unemotional. It's a pity he couldn't have brought a spark of light and hope to them.
It's still a great book; one you can browse through and find new focal points each time.

This review is from: Don McCullin: The Impossible Peace: From War Photographs to Landscapes, 1958-2011 (Hardcover)
How is it that with minimal training and limited resources, Don McCullin was capable of producing iconic and high quality images from the very start? The only explanation is pure natural born talent. This fabulous book spans his career with well crafted text and a stunning pictorial record. Don't hesitate, just get it!

Book is a quality hardback book stuffed full of photos from across McCullin's career including dsome more recent moody landscapes. A good look at the history of this photographers produce with some stunning photos and stories to go with them. If you're interested in photo-journalism, you should at least read this book.
