1.0 out of 5 stars Huge disappointment, 19 Jun. 2009
This review is from: Sourav Ganguly: The Maharaja of Cricket (Hardcover)
For the money, it is a colossal waste. For the effort, it's a damp squib. The writer's style is very clichéd. It's what you'd find in run of the mill newspaper reports. It does reveal a few titbits on Ganguly's life, but it does very little else to warrant such a price. One expects to read a vivid account of Ganguly's life. It tackles that part with mundane and over-simplified phrases. The Bengal Tiger does deserve much better than the fare on offer in this book. The only plus point to this book is in the collection of pictures of Ganguly's life from early childhood. Apart from that, it falls victim to the writer's inability to rise above mediocrity and abject clichés. Boycott's foreword is impressive and that's about it. I did try to find other positives, but I'd be doing a great disservice to intellect if I made up any more.
