If you are a Jet Li fan, then fine, this item might be for you. Li's performance is up to his usual high standard, and the fighting is great. However, if you happen to be a Jackie Chan fan also, then you probably shouldn't buy this. Maybe watch it, but be aware that Meltdown is actually another name for High Risk, the infamous anti-Chan outing from Wong Jing. If you are sensitive to you hero and his family and friends being mercilessly mocked in a way that is sadly not even funny, then stay clear of this, or at least fast forward any scene that features Jacky Cheung. If it wasn't for Jet, who is great, the movie would suck. However, the dubbing is quite good. The bad guy has an accent and tone of voice that really suits him.

Essentially, the Hong Kong version of "Die Hard". An ex-soldier turned bodyguard (Li) is still traumatised by the death of his wife in an explosion caused by a terrorist. Now, when the building he and his movie star emloyer(Cheung) are in is taken over by a group led by the same evil bomber, it is up to Li and his rather clumsy action star boss to recapture the skyscraper, and free the hostages. The obligatory and insanely poor Asian humour, or the dodgy script cannot detract from the intense, frequent and violent action set pieces. Li shows off his impressive Wushu fighting style which should satisfy his fans, whilst Cheung manages to sucessfully parody the fighting style of the great bruce lee, whilst dressed in a comedy spandex outsuit ala "Game of Death".
Some innovative action some cliched, but all in all a good mix of excitement, violence and dodgy humour which earn Meltdown 4 stars. However if you're not a fan of Li maybe you should make that 2, or 1. Ah who cares, I enjoyed it anyway...

This is even dubbed in chinese as well as english, l hoped it would be the actors original voices, the subtitles are big, but the dubed voices spoilt it, the voice overs are cold no emotion spoils film
