2.0 out of 5 stars Explicit not Erotic
Warning! Do not read this book if you are easily shocked. It is not really erotic. It is more hard core than erotic. Drawings and paintings can be just as explicit as photos!

5.0 out of 5 stars A superb collection, 8 April 2001

This is a superb collection of drawings and paintings with many household known names such as Rembrandt and Ingres. It includes erotic drawings from famous events such as the French Revolution. It starts with pictures from around 5000 BC as well as images from the Roman empire and much more; evidence that porn really is old hat and nothing new, in fact on the minds of everyone really. Look, you can bury your head in the sand and believe it doesn't exist or you can engage with its hypnotic and stimulating power. If you want fascination; stimulation and historical primary sources focused on the erotic expression of ordinary people through the ages then you will not be disappointed with this very explicit book. Well worth the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Explicit but not soulless, 28 Nov 2004
By A Customer
These days people are fed up with soulless pictures of the most beautiful thing in the world. The solution to that problem is "Erotica universalis". Once you have looked at 20 or 30 pages of wonderful pictures (You should not do more in one session not to spoil the pleasure!), you will go on and on and start the book all over again. You can share this fun of watching with your partner, no matter if male or female. In the end you have an idea of what the museums and galleries do not show.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unabashed, shameless, brilliant, 23 Jan 2005
I bought this book many years ago and still pick it up for a browse even today. The art comes from as far back as before 450BC and I don't think there is a fetish/subject matter not covered. Fascinating in the extreme! :)
