I needed this book to help me with an assignment on RSA coding. Because I was looking cryptography from a mathematical point of view rather than a computing, this book wasn't really that useful to me. I would recommend this book for someone who is generally interested in cryptography or someone with a computing background - not to help with a mathematics assignment.

This is an excellent textbook for anyone studying or interested in cryptography. It covers a great number of state of the art techniques with a very high degree of clarity. However, unlike many other books on cryptography, it neither shies away from explaining the theory underlying those algorithms, not does it become overly mired in mathematical formalisms. The authors and others have been been teaching courses based on this book for several years and have made slides and lecture videos available, so it is also an excellent resource for self-study.
