This review is from: Erotic French Postcards: From Alexandre Dupouy's Collection: From the Collection of Alexandre Dupouy (Hardcover)
This book is an anthology of four short stories inspired by the erotic postcards that adorn the pages. The postcards that are shown in this book originate from between 1905-1937 and are all in Alexandre Dupouy's personal collection. Some people may think of this as pornography, but I would strongly disagree, this is pure erotica. To our modern jaded eyes these pictures may appear as something of an anomaly, after all the women in them are normal, no implants or skinnies here. The expressions are also rather naive and innocent, they are like your everyday woman trying to appear seductive, which lets face it a lot of women can't really do. So saying though there are some very beautiful and sexy women here, most are single women, there are some with men and of course sapphic scenes, as well as some spanking. In todays world where there are so many different fetishes and so much diffierent porn it is nice to see something that is simpler and more erotic.

I would recommend everyone to read the introduction by Alexandre Dupouy which explains the rise of this form of erotica, and the appeal that it had in France. This type of art form may be why so many still consider French women to be so sexy. Also there are four short stories here as well.

A Funny Little Thing by Philippe Jaenada

Our narrator meets an ancient lush in a bar, indeed she seems to be employed in holding the counter up. As he gets to know her better she shows him an erotic postcard with two women on it, and he comes to realise that one of these is indeed the old woman in her late teens.

Open Heart by Delphine de Vigan

A young lady decides to do as her friends do to make some extra money, she poses for erotic postcards. She knows that men desire women, but she doesn't know if the same is true in reverse. Whilst languishing naked for the photographer she starts to realise what real desire is.

The Day I Found Myself Trapped Inside A Postcard by Serge Jonceur

Our narrator has a theory regarding postcards - they must be sent from where they come. When he buys some erotic postcards in a shop and starts to send them he finds that he is drawn into them, becoming entrapped in the postcards.

Black and White by Anna Rozen

Our female narrator fantasizes about having sex with another woman, and how things probably wouldn't go according to plan. As she enters the last scenes of her fantasy she realises that the image she conjures could be a print on an erotic postcard.

This is a really good book, with an integral cloth bookmark and some wonderful images, also the short stories are good and to a certain extent slightly quirky. A big thank you must go to Louise Rogers Lalaurie who did the English translation for this.
