I really enjoyed reading this book - it is great to read about other women who like Doctor Who. I've been a Doctor Who fan since I was a kid in the mid-1970s. There is stuff on the new (post 2005) show and stuff on pre-2005 characters like Nyssa and Sarah-Jane. Some of the chapters are funny, others are thought-provoking. For example I've tended to feel that Rose worked better with Nine than Ten and there's a chapter here that sums up why. The interviews are good too.

Marvellous concept for a fan book on a subject that has historically been seen as a male preserve. A veritable Who's Who of "Who" Whoevers, well female fans who REALLY love the Who. And boy, do these women dig the Lords of Time. This collection of essays is excellent - there are some that are stronger, more interesting, than others but to pick them out and name them would be like picking out episodes of Real Who for individual criticism. The whole collection makes for a wonderfully entertaining read from a woefully under-represented sector of the Whoniverse. And it is not before time that we men get an insight into how females view the females that have populated the shows over the years. What is always a bonus for a Classic series buff like me, is that this book does more than pay lip-service to the old series and I thank those writers who jogged a few of the old (sometimes in Black and White) memory cells. Sniff sniff!

The collaborative collection of women writers is best summed in the words of one of their own quotations. Carole Barrowman wrote, "Donna Noble - a mature companion with sass and sarcasm who reminded me of my own female friends." Overall, this book is both friendly and mature, with a welcome degree of sass and hint of sarcasm. And like many of the Doctor's companions this book is feisty! Five stars!
