Very well-written, well-organised and quite accessible for someone with no prior MongoDB experience. True to its '... in action" theme, it was very useful to see the most important concepts applied to a real-world example(an E-Commerce application).
My approach with learning about different Mongo features, was to read the relevant part of this book first and go through the examples and then use the online Mongo manual for extra stuff and up-to-date information. I think the number one competitor for this book is the official mongo manual which is also of very high quality with plenty of examples.
Due to the fact the MongoDB is still being actively improved, the book doesn't cover the newly added aggregation framework unfortunately. It does cover however map-reduce(with useful examples) and the old-style aggregation commands.
And one minor complaint(potentially subjective): I wished the examples were using a more mainstream language like Java or C# instead of Ruby.
