I got this book when I first accepted Islam and hove read and re-read it many times through the years. It is a great reference book and features (among other things) the dawn of the modern Islamic era (in the sixth century CE), the spread of Islam, it's central teachings, Islamic history (including famous personalities from various sciences and the arts), Islamic contributions to Western civilisation, English words with Arabic origins, and many, many other fascinating things. The information is not presented in a traditional A-Z 'read it through' manner. It is made-up of diagrams, fact boxes, and short, succinct, interesting articles. I recommend this book very highly to non-Muslims who are genuinely interested to learn about Islam, and to Muslims (especially new Muslims) to learn more about their history in a fun, easy-to-read yet highly engaging manner. Buy it and enjoy!
