Really lovely book, images are photographed and styled really well. I will be knitting quite a few projects from this book and with there being 60 to choose from your bound to find a new project with ease.
However whilst most of the projects are really lovely a few are fillers, there are 2 different hot water bottle covers, really I don't think I own a hot water bottle let alone want to knit a cover for one. About 10 projects are felted, I'm generally not a fan of felting but there is a hat pattern that may sway me, the book does have a section on felting if you have not attempted it before, however the instructions are for a top loader or a front loader if you can open the door, I don't have either so i will have to research further in order to felt my projects. Of the two sweater patterns both are roll neck! Urgh does anyone actually wear those horrible things, I would be investigating other options for the necks if I were to knit them.
There are a lot of beautiful projects, cushions, blankets, throws and wraps that I will be kept busy knitting for a long time. Plus the book is just lovely to look at, really quite inspiring.

I bought "Knitting at Home" rather than another similarly titled knitting book I was about to purchase having read an earlier reviewer's comments praising this book. On receipt I had an initial quick flick through and thought it was ok but maybe a little bland as most of the designs seemed to be in neutral or muted shades. It was only later when I had time to look through the book properly page by page that I saw what a great find it really was. It is full of beautiful projects, clear instructions and lovely photographs and contains items which would suit most homes as the designs are not overpowering but more classically elegant and comforting. There are also projects for every skill level. I am now half way through my first "pillow" aka cushion and it is so simple but looks amazing. I have many other projects I want to try next including one of the throws, with flowers, which looks amazing but is far simpler to make (judging from the instructions) than I initially assumed. I have been using my own yarn stash rather than the Ella Rae yarns they recommend (simply as they would be too pricey for me) but my cushion is knitting up well and I can't wait to finish it and start my next project. This is a great book which I highly recommend and I hope Leanne Prouse brings out further books in the future.

All too often, knitting for the home books feature ridiculous items like plant pot cosies that no one in their right minds would want to spend time making. This book offers projects - and a lot of them - that are practical as well as beautiful. I have a list of cushions and throws that I want to tackle and will update this review when I have established how easy it is to translate them into Uk yarns. Fingers crossed that they work as well as the images promise.

This is a fabulous book with some truly inspirational ideas and there are many things that I would like to make. The problem is that is virtually impossible to buy the wool here in the UK. The UK stockists I have found sell a very limited range of colours, mainly dark sludgy ones which aren't what I want. US stockists offer a much better range and do mail order, but the postage is prohibitive - 47 dollars!!!!
I am a reasonably competent knitter but have never been terribly interested in experimenting with different types of wool and changing needle sizes to achieve the correct size. The needle sizes given in the patters are at odds with what we use in the UK i.e. we usually knit double knitting on size 4 but all the double knitting patterns in the book use 4.5. I much prefer to select a pattern, buy the required wool and go for it, you can't do this using this book. This is why I have given it only 3 stars.
Quite a few of the projects are felted, a process I have never tried, but the felting instructions are very brief. I would have to buy another more detailed book on felting before attempting any of them.
I have emailed Ella Rae to ask about UK suppliers fingers crossed they will offer some helpful advice.

If you want a knitting book with lots of different projects in - then this is the book for you. The photographs are good, and the range of things to knit is brilliant. I have lots and lots of knitting books, and this is one of my favourites. The yarns featured are American, but you can substitute them quite easily. Lovely book to just read through. Definitely worth buying

Ordered this on a whim after reading a blogspot where it was mentioned in passing!! Wow! it is a treasure trove of scrumptiousness?? a book to covet, and to guard with your life, it is truly more than the sum of it parts! I want to cuddle it? Ok well maybe not, but I do have to keep a beady eye on it when it does the rounds at my knit-n-natter group! And I make them wear gloves - knitted of course- don't even think of coming near it with cake and coffee!

With 60 yes SIXTY classics for every room in the house plus your dogs! With squishy cushions, oooh sooo soft socks, snuggly hot water bottle covers, surround yourself in love afghans, throws and baby blankies, felted boots and suptious cable sweaters, T cosies, fingerless mittens, the list is endless, so much inspiration, so many patterns, so little time........keep your wits about you if you happen to let slip you have a copy, you will be amazed by the number of "friends" you suddenly end up with on Ravelry!

well, i hoped it would be good, based it on several other knitty books i have about home things but this book is outstanding! love every single thing in it and there is lots to love! i run a knit and crochet club and so took it along and the others loved it too and some have bought their own copy. speaks volumes. super book. yarn substitutes: use any aran weight wool or wool mix.

I found "The knitted home" by Sian Brown wasn't my style , so I turned to this book: "Knitting at home" by Leanne Prouse. I am delighted with it! The photos are beautiful and the very artistic presentation is highly enjoyable!
I have already ticked 5 projects and can't wait to start them!
This lovely book will surely keep my interest going for a while.

The cover gives a homely feeling, but it might be a bit misleading - no, it's not just about slippers and beautiful blankets!
