This is a brave book. As if it were not risky enough to challenge the accepted established scientific Egyptological paradigm the author of 'The Canopus Revelation' has taken a long and incisive re-examination of the modern 'alternative' interpretations of Ancient Egypt. This book isn't what I hoped it would be. I thought it would be slightly more academic and slightly less mystical.

This is a brave book. As if it were not risky enough to challenge the accepted established scientific Egyptological paradigm the author of 'The Canopus Revelation' has taken a long and incisive re-examination of the modern 'alternative' interpretations of Ancient Egypt. As a sceptical reader of modern writers such as Bauval and Hancock I found this book to be a thought-provoking breathe of very fresh air.

The Author, Phillip Coppens, has applied himself dilligently to the facts and has unearthed what must be one of the most startling re-examinations of Egyptian stellar lore of recent times. The main thread of his argument, that we should radically re-establish our understanding of Ancient Egyptian stellar lore, is based upon his belief that Canpous held an equally important role in Egyptian belief to Sirius - a fact that has been sadly over-looked by Egyptologists due to the star not being visible in the Northern Hemisphere. Not only an our understanding of the Egyptian culture open to question but also all offshoots from the Osirian legends, such as Freemasonry for example, - ideas which may cause many traditional occultists heart palpatations!

I thoroughly recommend this book. It takes a couple of reads to digest the main thesis because it is so new but it is a very satisfying insight into man's esoteric connection to the universe and the mythological themes that even today play through our lives.
