worth a try
on 12 December 2009
I bought this book plus the recipe book for a friend needing to lose weight. I decided to join her as we often eat together, even though I didn't need to lose anything.
The books are contradictory in places and very repetitive (could fit the book into about half the space) but having said that, my friend lost 7 lbs on the 5 day 'crash' starter - easy to follow and left us both quite satisfied and not hungry at all. (I lost 5 lbs). My friend has gone on to lose over a stone and a half in 7 weeks and for a senior citizen with a thyroid problem, that is excellent for her, as she has had enormous problems getting any weight off at all.
I have also lost over a stone on the maintenance diet and have had to stop following it as I am now underweight!
I think the recipe book is essential to follow this diet properly as the first book goes into great detail about the medical problems it can fix or prevent, but too few recipes to be encouraging and also very confusing in places.
It is worth a try but , like all diets, needs willpower and it only works if you follow the rules.
Update - 18 months later, she is still following the eating plan with no problems, and has lost over 4 and a half stones. She will soon join me on the maintenance (I have put back a few pounds and am happy to stay at 7.4, which the plan is helping me to do).
