5.0 out of 5 stars Digital SLR Beginners Guide
I was bought this book just before Christmas to accompany my Nikon D90.
Having read the Nikon manual, and getting confused, i read this magbook and it all became clear. I have a few friends seriously into photography, one a leading professional wedding photographer, and although i can call on them for advice, this magbook is always useful to refer back to, esp once...

1.0 out of 5 stars Complete waste of money
Really disappointed with this. It started on page 60-something, suggesting it was either second in a series or I'd been sent a duff copy. No useful tips whatsoever - you'd get more value out of any monthly photography magazine at half the cost. Absolute rubbish - went straight in the bin. Would have given it zero stars but have to insert at least one for the review to be...

I was bought this book just before Christmas to accompany my Nikon D90.
Having read the Nikon manual, and getting confused, i read this magbook and it all became clear. I have a few friends seriously into photography, one a leading professional wedding photographer, and although i can call on them for advice, this magbook is always useful to refer back to, esp once learnt, it is very good to go back and re-read to compound the learning.

I wouldn't be without this now, and would buy a replacement if i ever lost it.

It's prob the best thing you'll buy for your DSLR, and certainly one of the cheapest items you can buy that will improve the quality of your photo's so much.

An excellent book with some stunning images to inspire! I bought this for my teenage daughter who has just bought her first DSLR. The guide is basically a compilation of a series of articles from the magazine originally published over a period of several months plus some additional chapters. The style is very clear and approachable. All the technique sections are well illustrated. Both with diagrams and photographs showing the effects of changing settings on the camera.
I would heartily recommend this to anyone starting out in photography or just as a quick refresher for people who have returned to photography after doing 35mm.
