5.0 out of 5 stars A captivating read!
This is one of the most fascinating books I've read in a while. The author's passion for Austen shines out from the pages and her clear and fresh but also emotive style is a joy to read. The book provides a well-rounded and absorbing insight into Jane's novels and I was amazed at how much more I got out of Pride and Prejudice once I was armed with this wonderful little...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not much new
If you've read the books, you don't really need this book. It's little more than a rehash of the plots with no real insight into the characters and little additional information. There's a little information about film and TV adaptation. It's cheap enough, though, that, if you need a quick plot summary, it might be handy.

A little disappointing but there is some interesting stuff on the film adaptions which I enjoyed. Better if you know very little about Jane Austen's work when reading this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!, 27 Jan 2012
This review is from: The Jane Austen Pocket Bible (Pocket Bibles) (Hardcover)
If you love Jane Austen and her books, you will love this. It gives an insight into what life was like in Jane's day, for example it tells you how women were 'expected' to behaviour/dress etc and what is meant by 'they earn $5000 a year'. It also gives details about Jane's books and their characters. A fantastic little pocket book full of little extras - a must for any Janeites!!!
