Dr Das, has done it again and produced another useful guide to the snakes of South east Asia. I recommend all of his recent published photo guides- India, Sri Lanka and Borneo. The larger work he published on the Reptiles of SE Asia was wrongly called a field guide, but was too large to take out of the home! This present book has addressed that problem perfectly. The book contains an excellent check list of snakes of the area, a good index and a really large and useful bibliography. The photos are outstanding and the notes are concise and well written. For snake lovers everywhere this is a perfect guide. If you intend to visit the rainforests of Malaysia or Borneo any time soon, in search of snakes, then this is the guide for you!

Great little book on snakes. A must for any one going to wonder the jungles of South-East Asia. Very useful for its size, with lots of colour photos. The book is small and ideal for a rucksack. Good hunting.

Excellent photos and a good basic guide to the snakes of the area. The one improvement I would recommend would be to highlight the poisonous species

The details of the individual species was good as were the photographs. The most important item was missing. The essential aspect of any volume on Snakes is, which are harmless and which are venomous and, of those which are venomous, the standard of toxicity and type of venom .There was a page on treating snake bites which is pointless if the venom cannot be identified from each individual snake.
