This review is from: Film Violence: History, Ideology, Genre (Short Cuts) (Paperback)
Kendrick's book gives a valuable and easy to read overview of the debates and theories surrounding film violence in popular cinema. The focus is on western cinema with specific investigation into several film-makers and genres. What I find most helpful is Kendrick's ability to put ideas, theories, etc, into historical frameworks, giving a sense of how the reactions to film violence have changed (or often stayed the same). Excellent work.
