New and useful calligraphy books are not common and this one satisfied both requirements. It isn't too simplistic, carrying the usual 'how to' chapters - there's a 'how to' and 'how to alter' element to it which allows you to move on if you already have the basic knowledge of calligraphy which is something other books lack. There are also pages that well known calligraphers have contributed and this adds to the interest and information that the book supplies. It has been reviewed very positively by many calligraphers.

This is an interesting and very informative book.
It is also very well designed with the exception of the captions with are difficult to read, too small, and faint.
