4.0 out of 5 stars funny and truthful..definitely worth reading
Being a GP myself, I have to admit I can completely identify with most of the sentiments written by TC. It is a funny and insightful look at the joys and frustrations of modern-day General Practice - a good mix of anecdotes intermingled with explanations of what is currently going on in the politics of Primary Care. Not everyone will like this book as it is a very honest...

3.0 out of 5 stars "What's Up Doc!!!
Very good account of the machinations and machiavellian behaviour of the NHS. I was surprised at the level of cynicism and impatience with people who are, mainly, paying for the service. I think NHS staff often forget this point and practice as though they are doing their patients a favour. Perhaps they forget that we're all human with many positive and negative sides...

5.0 out of 5 stars Hits the GP nail on the head...with a sledge hammer., 12 Mar 2011

This review is from: Sick Notes (Paperback)
A very good book. I made my husband read it so that he might understand a little of what I have to face every day. Next on the "I'm forcing you to read this" list is my mother, sister, father, all friends..... The GP's who write this book hit the tone perfectly. If the public were to read this book, I'm sure GP waiting rooms would be more quite. Perhaps a dozen or so copies scattered through the "O.K." magazines....

1.0 out of 5 stars Could all have been covered in 2 chapters, 3 Aug 2011
This review is from: Sick Notes (Paperback)
The NHS is crippled by bureaucracy, patients are mostly time-wasting hypochondriacs, the author is the only person in the entire NHS with an ounce of common sense. Ok, so I got that after the first couple of chapters. The rest was one long repetitive whinge, sanctimonious and highly dis-respectful to the patients who have the audacity to be ordinary people.
