5.0 out of 5 stars Marvellous and insightful work by a professional soccer writer, 20 Nov. 2008
This review is from: Fabio Capello: The Man, the Dream, the Inside Story (Hardcover)
You can tell this author has a passion about the sport, but for me this has translated and merged with the complex character of the subject of his book. The background and family history of this man, what makes him tick, what has made him successful and sought after by others before being appointed as the saviour of English football is brought to the reader in a way that doesn't simply report on yet another football personality.
This is probably labelled for a male readership, but I found it absorbing and not so technically written that it could not be picked up by female football fans too. A jolly good Christmas gift I'd say - well done Mark Ryan!

Mark has obviously researched his subject in great depth. This book describes in detail what makes the man tick. From childhood through to England manager Capello's life is laid bare and the more you read the more interesting his life becomes. Well done Mark.

5.0 out of 5 stars Insightful, intelligent, illuminating, 15 Nov. 2008

This review is from: Fabio Capello: The Man, the Dream, the Inside Story (Hardcover)
I thoroughly enjoyed reding this thoughtful analysis of Capello, and what makes him tick. Too many treatments of this kind of subject matter merely gloss over the real material and focus on events-not so here. I recommend this to anyone genuinely interested in understanding the motivations behind this fascinating character.

This review is from: Fabio Capello: The Man, the Dream, the Inside Story (Hardcover)
This book has everything. It deals with Capello's childhood properly - unlike others I could mention - and it has more inside track about his time in England too. Ryan has obviously talked to Fabio's family at length as well as to the man himself. He has uncovered a great deal about Capelo's career and life in general that I just did not know about. It is a great read.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best book ever written in the history of the world, 20 Feb. 2009
This review is from: Fabio Capello: The Man, the Dream, the Inside Story (Hardcover)
This is the best book ever written in the history of the world. I couldn't put it down. A marvellous read. It is up there with Proust and Hemmingway. Funny, insightful, and full of fascinating facts, I would recommend it to everyone.
