It is always interesting to share the experiences of a seasoned professional in any industry, and Lee's testaments demonstrate real life situations, problems, successful resolutions and the trust that is established over time in the personal relationships that develop. As he suggests, 'Fairness, like honesty and integrity, is a two way street' and I agree with this...

1.0 out of 5 stars I'd be pretty suspicious of the gushing praise!
I think the previous 2 reports are at best hyperbole, and am pretty sure they are in some way related to the author! Generally if I'm honest, it's not a great book. If you have never worked as an adviser it may give you an insight into the job, however reading it as an experienced IFA it just smacks of the "old" type of commission chasing, bond flogging past and the sort...

As he suggests, 'Fairness, like honesty and integrity, is a two way street' and I agree with this observation. A good read, packed with ideas, and very much recommended to those joining the profession. Well done.

I was passed this book by a friend and immediately took to its easy and engaging style. I must say that I am not expert in any financial matters but that mattered not because the stories that act as as testimonials to the points that Mr Clarke makes, range from being absorbing to entertaining but always most pithy. What comes out very strongly here is the genuine care, almost pastoral care of the whole person that the author demonstrates and in these days of bankers bonuses and mis-selling, it is so refreshing to see most snsible advice for those in the IFA trade mixed with a large dollop of genuine human concern. My cockles are duly warmed. Read on! Mark Frost

I am fairly pleased with this book that has lots of handy tips and hints.

It could do with being a larger piece of work but the details that are provided are good.

The price point on AMAZON is good but would not have wanted to pay the full price on ECADEMY PRESS

Overall very satisfied.

5.0 out of 5 stars The secrets to being a truly great financial adviser, 27 Sep 2009
This review is from: The Trusted Financial Adviser - The Secrets to a Long and Successful Career as a Financial Adviser (Paperback)
Lee has written a book outlining the fundamental essentials that are required to be a trusted, respected and successful Financial Adviser. It is rich with tips, advice, real-life examples and humourous anecdotes. Lee's own experiences and expertise gained in his many years in the profession should provide a valuable guide to any adviser, whether you are new to the profession and wish to embark on a successful career or whether you are a seasoned adviser wishing to build on an existing business. An invaluable handbook for any ambitious financial adviser!

If you have never worked as an adviser it may give you an insight into the job, however reading it as an experienced IFA it just smacks of the "old" type of commission chasing, bond flogging past and the sort of model that will be swept away by RDR. Sales skills are however very important and if you want to read an excellent book on building and developing working relationship with a good sales angle I would recommend "How To Win Friends & Influence People" by Dale Carnegie. This book really doesn't offer a lot, I feel a bit bad about being so harsh but your money would be better spent elsewhere.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Secrets to a Long and Successful Career as a Financial Adviser, 16 Nov 2009
This review is from: The Trusted Financial Adviser - The Secrets to a Long and Successful Career as a Financial Adviser (Paperback)
This book is fantastic. The Trusted Financial Adviser is a sure-fire way for you to build an extremely successful career as a financial adviser. And if you do it using the information contained in this brilliant book - as well as helping your clients achieve their financial goals - by default - you end up achieving your financial goals. What a deal!

And so if you are looking to help your clients' financial dreams come true, and at the same time build a substantial amount of personal wealth, in an ethical way, this is the book for you.

By following the step by step guidelines in The Trusted Financial Adviser, as well as your bank balance taking a leg up, your self esteem is going to soar too. Your self confidence will increase because deep down, you know that what you are doing -how you are acting - and what you are saying is always for the greater good. And that helps you sleep well at night.

Right from the word go, you'll find it so easy to really warm towards Lee. It's glaringly obvious that Lee "walks his talk." The lengths he goes to make sure that his clients are well and truly taken care of are nothing short of amazing.

You can tell that Lee is one of those incredible individuals who always puts his clients' wants, needs and interests much higher than his own. And as you and I know, this type of person is hard to find and that's why you just can't help hanging onto his every word.

You just have to admire and respect this guy for his total commitment to his clients. No wonder he has countless clients knocking at his door. And it appears that he has to turn some of them down. That's how in demand this guy is.

And so if your goal is to build a successful career as a financial adviser, Lee would be the perfect guy to model.

Inside this awesome book, Lee has clearly identified the main frustration that people have with financial advisers; lack of trust.

Lee cleverly points out that it's not just about having the right qualifications and fancy letters after your name. Yes, you have to prove that you are competent as that is a given. However, competence needs to be combined with something much more valuable to a client. That "thing" could be summed in one word; integrity.

Lee skillfully shows you how to build trust with your clients and in turn gain an outstanding reputation. And when that happens, your clients automatically feel comfortable about personally introducing you to their family, friends and associates. What a really smart way to super charge your income without the stress that comes from cold calling new clients.

The Trusted Financial Adviser is jammed full of Lee's secrets of success and once you start reading it, you'll find it difficult to put down. It's been written in plain English and it's jargon free. It even has a good dollop of humour skillfully injected. I found this approach refreshingly different from the boring dry prose you normally get from the majority of personal finance related books.

If you read this book and adopt just a few of Lee's ideas, your career as an adviser is going to seriously take off like a rocket. Buy it, read it and apply what you learn. The results you'll achieve will be spectacular. Strongly recommend.
