This review is from: Haunted Skies Volume Three (Paperback)
This third volume a planned multi-volume history of UFO-related phenomena from the British Isles focuses on a busy 24-month period between January 1966 and December 1967.

Once again police officer John Hanson and his partner Dawn Holloway, together with other collaborators, have produced an impressive catalogue of sightings spiced with photos, illustrations and relevant documents. The chosen presentation is `magazine format' with the text and images mixed on each page.

Veteran researcher and author Nick Redfern writes the foreword to this edition.

As with the first two volumes in the series, the authors have done an excellent job of studiously sorting wheat from chaff and presenting dozens of professional case studies.

With a 25cm x 19cm page size, these illustrated soft-cover books are quite large. There is a lot of stuff here, filling the now standard 300 pages. One feature of this period was the `flying cross' objects reported from a variety of UK locations, apparently not reported in subsequent years. Some of the famous photos from the `Warminster wave' are also reproduced.

An interesting exchange on the subject of UFOs between Merlyn Rees, the then Home Secretary, and Sir John Langford-Holt MP in Parliament on June 22nd 1966 is reproduced in full.

As with previous volumes the text is literate, free of typos and edited to a professional standard. Why all published works in this field don't seem to reach even this basic publication standard remains a mystery.

Thousands of sightings and encounters have probably been excluded for the usual reason: only what has been reported can be recorded. In summary: a good work of reference.

5.0 out of 5 stars First rate..., 13 Jan 2012

As noted by the other reviewers this is the 3rd in the series, the series is a must have for folks with a real interest in the field. The narrative is clear and uncluttered its "just the facts" and no wild speculation. The reports are seen as they were originally reported with some updates and the illustrations produced from the reports giving the illustrations some merit. Interesting to note that the same descriptions and "types" of UFO have a good degree of consistency from the first in the series through to this edition suggestive that the same type of "craft" if I may use that term are seen by each generation of witnesses.

A must have record of UFO reports in the UK and I look forward to the next edition.

A third in the series of 'must have' UK UFO archives.Any serious researcher cannot really afford to omit this volume from their collection!
I had the pleasure to present a copy to Moonwalker Dr Ed Mitchell recently: he expressed his admiration for the book and acknowledged the work that had gone into its production.
Well done John & Dawn!
