5.0 out of 5 stars Everyone should read this, 28 Aug 2007
I was inspired to purchase this book as I had known Ruth in another life a good few years ago & really only purchased the book out of curiosity not expecting great things!
How wrong was I?
The book reads on two levels. The first one is for children & has all the magic & mystery of any children's book available in the high street.
There is another level which adult's will catch on to which warns of the dangers of materialism. I will not add anything further as you need to read the book yourself. Buy this book & be prepared for a thoroughly good read which can be enjoyed by the youngest & oldest members of the family.

5.0 out of 5 stars An emotional journey!, 13 Oct 2008
I like many others knew Ruth from another life.
This amazingly mystical book took me on a journey. The characters are enlightening! The use of descriptive language has bought each one uniquely to life. On one page I laughed out loud, turned another and found myself crying. Thank you Ruth for writing such a wonderful story, my ten year old step daughter loved it, my pregnant 22 year old found it haunting and as for the rest of us...FAB!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Older and Wiser, 6 Sep 2008
By Debs "Debs" (West Midlands) - See all my reviews
This book is evocative and beautifully written. It is thought provoking and makes one look at ones own life. How innocent people can be fooled into a world of mass illusion !! Ruth has told a story that will have you captured from the beginning. I could not put the book down and read it in one evening. Each page held my breath and I could feel myself willing the end to come not because I wanted it to end, to enable me to see what happened to the characters that so easily became real the more I read. Its a pleasuarble read with a strong moral fibre running through it. In todays society with its down turn in morals and principles, this and would be good for younger children to read. This book is not indoctrinated to any particular gender, age group or culture, It is a book that expresses the essence of team work and kindness, pointing out how thw world is tinged with some rogues out there that are happy to pounce on our weaknesses and leave us behind once their own trunk is filled with coffers but clever enough to manipulate us into thinking its our failure not their lies and greed that disabled success. Well done Ruth I look forward to your next book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Through Rose Coloured Glasses.., 1 Jul 2007
By Phil "Phil" (The Quantocks!) - See all my reviews
A very accurate description of this truly enchanting book, representing family values and perfectly depicting westcountry life. The clever use of words and meaningful content makes this a lovely read. I'm not a big reader, but 'Through Rose Coloured Glasses' captures real somerset life, with an element of fantasy and childhood fun, i couldn't put it down. This book is worth reading for the all the kooky charming country characters, and their jolly adventues. Beautifully written and guaranteed to put a smile on any young or old face.

5.0 out of 5 stars The journey!, 30 Jun 2007
By Mt (Somerset) - See all my reviews
The moment that I opened the cover of this book I was taken on a journey that I made last a long time as I knew I didn't want it to be over! The journey allowed me to re-visit my childhood as I was taken down leafy lanes that led to colourful characters with an adventure unfolding around them. I long for that feeling again - of the never ending holidays that I'm about to embark on and I'm not sure where they will take me and my companions - and got that from this book. Fantastic!!

The descriptive style of writing will appeal to a broad age range - I didn't once feel that I shouldn't be reading this as an adult! But I did feel quite saddened as I came to the end of the adventure, I look foward to the next one.............

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding, 29 May 2007
A humorous and entertaining tale exploring the moral dimensions attached to success; rewarding the virtue of honesty and condemning avaricious gain. Thus clarifying how susceptible we all are to Dream Sellers.
