Though this book is definitely not meant for my age group (late fifties) I absolutely loved it and have made several of the projects. The knitted head bands are easy enough even for a complete beginner like me.
It's written in a very engaging style and is altogether adorable.

I've always loved cooking and doing various crafts, but was beginning to get a little bored - so when I saw this "Modern" book I thought I would give it a try. It has new methods and techniques which are great to try and I would highly recommend this book to anyone; whether they were experienced in crafts or just starting out.

This is a fantastic book for the modern crafter. It is beautifully put together, quirky and easy to follow. I have been dabling in knitting and general crafts for a few years and always read Jazz's column in Company Magazine, so when I saw she had written a book I pre-ordered it straight away.

It arrived very quickly as promised by Amazon.

I couldn't recommend this book highly enough. Completely love it.

I recieved this book and its wonderful, there really is something for everyone in here.
The book has sections on knitting, sewing and patchwork (by hand and machine), baking, preserving, gardening, DIY beauty and fashion. The instructions are easy to understand and the projects are sutitable for all skill levels. The projects are also excellent, they are not too hard as to put off beginners but (I believe) interesting enough for the more experienced (I certainly enjoyed the baking section).
The introductary sections are also amusing and interesting to read.

I've tried out several of the baking recipies and they all produced fantastic results, which has left me eager to try out the other projects in the book. Overall the book is amusing and interesting to read, and even if you don;t try the projects out it is certainly inspiring and shows that "old-fashioned" crafts are anything but outdated!!

I bought this book after seeing it in a popular High Street bookstore for double the price. I have been making jewellery but am fairly new to material crafts and found this book to be insightful look into lots of new crafts. A few other reviews have commented that it is very basic, but this is good to me as a newbie, but also think new ideas can come from the basics.
I would recommend this book to those that want to learn more or refresh their ideas.

I bought this as a Christmas present for my niece. It looked as if it would appeal to a student with an interest in art, craft and fashion. Really disappointed in the lack of interesting project ideas. Lots of information on basic techniques which would suit a complete novice, but 30 pages on how to knit with only instructions for scarves, bows, or knitted squares did not inspire. Patchwork items were equally boring, I know retro is in but the items didn't appear to have moved on. Sorry but could not recommend to the age group it seems to be aimed at. I think it tries to cover too much in one book.

Very few craft books are as good as this one. I bought this secondhand (perfect condition) after taking it out of my local library. Well presented and set out, it contains a lot of different craft ideas from knitting to perserving to quilting which is exactly what I was looking for. Also, includes a good bit of information about the history of the different crafts, and ideas for crafting as a group. Good for beginners and experts alike! They'll be someone new in here for you, with easy instruction and lots of pretty pictures (I'm a little superfical that way!)

This book is brilliant! Eveything in the book is easy to follow, and I love the section on making your own beauty prodcuts, they all came out brilliant and a few of them have taken permenant residense in my bathroom.

There are some particularly tasty recepies, the chutney recepies are to die for, and there are some fab ideas for basic sewing, knitting and a little gardening.

If you like making your own, get this book.

Having first noticed Jazz's page in Company magazine, I always looked forward to seeing what she had to offer each month, so when I saw that she had released a book I couldn't wait to get my hands on it!

Having arrived quickly and in excellent condition from Amazon, I read the book from start to finish very quickly and it was an utter joy to read. The quality of the book is outstanding and the illustrations and photographs within it creates a more modern feel than others I have read. There are some great projects in there that I am just itching to try!

Highly recommended, get your copy now...You won't regret it :)

I received the book yesterday morning and have been flicking back and forth through it sporadically ever since. This book works as a coffee table book. It's quirky and retro, yes, but the photography is also excellent and the grouping of topics is interesting. But seriously, as a long time crafter, I found the book quite lacking and disappointing. If you're new to crafting then this is the book for you. If you've any experience whatsoever with a needle and thread, with knitting, with gardening, then this book will either go in the trash, or as I intend to do, be gifted on to someone less craft savvy then myself.
