5.0 out of 5 stars Fast-paced, action-packed graphic novel for adults
Cinebook has made me a fan of graphic novels and comic books with their many series. Taxing Trails is one example: The storyline is complex and smart, taking readers back and forth from WWII to the present. This book (a double-volume) is illustrated with amazing attention to detail and beautiful colouring. Cinebook's English-language edition is smoothly translated--an art...

1.0 out of 5 stars poor storyline
I bought this book with high expectations after reading the Largo Winch volume 1 by cinebook. I was very disaapointed. The graphics are OK, but the storyline is rather poor. The plot meanders on and on and feels at best like a second class story compared to Largo Winch. The plot is very mediocre and I struggled to finish the book (which has never been the case with a...

1.0 out of 5 stars poor storyline, 6 Aug 2008
This review is from: IR$ Vol.1: Taxing Trails (Paperback)
I bought this book with high expectations after reading the Largo Winch volume 1 by cinebook. I was very disaapointed. The graphics are OK, but the storyline is rather poor. The plot meanders on and on and feels at best like a second class story compared to Largo Winch. The plot is very mediocre and I struggled to finish the book (which has never been the case with a comic before). I will not be getting any more of this series if they are published. I wonder why cinebook is not publishing more popular titles like Buck Danny or Alix. Even though I do not speak French, looking at the graphics of the French versions they do look prety neat.

Cinebook has made me a fan of graphic novels and comic books with their many series. Taxing Trails is one example: The storyline is complex and smart, taking readers back and forth from WWII to the present. This book (a double-volume) is illustrated with amazing attention to detail and beautiful colouring. Cinebook's English-language edition is smoothly translated--an art in itself. I can easily imagine this story being adapted to the big screen.

This book is definitely not for children; it's an adult graphic novel, not only for its content but also for the complexity of dialogue and storyline. For children's comic books and GNs that promote values such as courage, loyalty and respect for others, check out other Cinebook series such as Yakari and Yoko Tsuno.
