5.0 out of 5 stars Slaine Books of Invasion Vol. 3 - The conclusion
Unfortunately this third volume of the Books of Invasions marks the end of this amazing trilogy. Pat Mills delivers a stunning conclusion to the battle of the Fomorian Sea Devils against Slaine and the Atlantean tribes. At the end it comes to a clash of titans. I'm referring to Slaine vs Lord Odacon. Undoubtedly Lord Odacon will find himself kissing Slaine's Axe. But can...

3.0 out of 5 stars Inferior to Previous Books
The photo content of the art blemd is signifantly higher in this book, to the extent that it starts to feel like a photostory. Hence artistically weaker than the previous Invasions books. The story is poorer too, with a downbeat ending that is also short. The book is padded out with an Invasions irrelevant "epilogue" Urko circus whodunnit.

So a...

5.0 out of 5 stars Slaine Books of Invasion Vol. 3 - The conclusion, 26 Mar 2011
This review is from: Slaine: The Books of Invasions: v. 3 (Rebellion 2000ad) (Hardcover)
But can a Sea Devil be truly defeated? Following the climax of the main story there's an epilogue entitled "Carnival". It's a treat for the fans and I must say I enjoyed it very much. Slaine decides find out the whereabouts of his son Kai. It's also the reintroduction of Ukko the dwarf. Clint Langley delivers again and I've noticed the evolution he's made between the first album and the second and third one. Langley's mix between drawing arts and computer techniques is amazing. The whole atmosphere breaths realism and fantasy in a way you haven't experienced before. Mind blowing and crafted with so much detail, you find yourself sometimes watching a single frame with your mouth half opened and gasping for air. So again; it's unfortunately the series end here. I wouldn't mind the continuation of Slaine by these two formidable lads; Mills and Langley!
To all the fans; own this trilogy and treasure it for it is a milestone of the same proportions as the period Mills worked with Simon Bisley on Slaine.

a must for any fan!
the use of "real"images "blended in" has upset some comic book traditionalists, but i think the artist, clint langley, has used real myth and magic in his art and to tell a story of slain-you need it!
go get the trilogy.......

At Mills conjures up the perfect story and characters for this offering of another Slaine classic. Do not miss reading it yourself.

For people who follow the Slaine sagas this book is a must, a most compelling storyline that leaves you wanting more. Written by the master himself Pat Mills and with superior artwork from Clint Langley that leaves you breathless at the intricacy and detail which really sets the mood for the story....You wont get a better mix of talent!!

So a dissapointmenting trilogy completion with inferior art. But it does conclude things so if you have and like Invasions v.1 and v.2 , which were much prettier; you probably still want this. If you don't have 1 and 2, get those instead.
