Brilliant!
I had an awful, very painful delivery with my first child who was 8lb 10 oz. I had gas and air, morphine and in the end forceps in theatre. I was left so traumatised i was on the waiting list for NHS coucelling and was expecting my second child, which was planned but i was having major panic about the birth (unfortunately betime i got my first appointment for councelling through it was a date way after i had my second child! cheers NHS!)

With my second baby i listened to Maggies cd system. Had a much better birth, only had gas and air, and only when i reached 8-9 cm dialated, before that i sat listening to the relaxing birth music that accompanies this system, sat on the edge of the bed, legs swinging chatting away! I went from dreading the birth before listening to Maggies cd, to enjoying giving birth so much i used to go around telling everyone i wish i could do it again, everyone thought i was mad lol! My second baby was 9 lb 8 oz

With my third child i listened to Maggies cds yet again, i enjoyed the birth the second time, so i was in no doubt that i would use the cd system again (i used the birth prep cd + relaxing birth music cd whilst in labour)
Well my labour was just inder 4 hours from start to finish, it was very intense and i almost ended up having my baby in the car, as we are several hours drive away from the hospital! I only had the music cd to listen to in the car on the way. I ended up giving birth to my 10 lb 2 oz 22.5" long Son in the nurses office down stairs as i couldnt make it up to the ward in time. Once i got into the hospital i didnt even have the music to listen to as there wasnt the time to get it from the car! I think Maggies system is pure genious! 10 lb 2 oz with no pain relief and yet it was totally bareable, much easier than with the other 2 births, and i was calm , coping with the pain very well, and wasnt some screaming loony in the process. It was amazing experience. Before i ever had kids i would have described myself as a 'let me at the pain relief drugs cabinet' or else type of person when i would have kids! I dont have a very strong pain threshold. So Maggie in my oppinion works miracles lol! I love how her cd helps your body to relax and go with it, not tense up and fight the birthing process with tight muscles and fear.

I have found the CD useful so far in my birth preparations. If nothing else it helps me relax and get to sleep easier, at a time when my brain is racing with lots going on!

I don't know whether classes would have been more beneficial but as someone who does yoga and guided relaxation already I am able to tune into the CD. If you have not done it before you need to be open minded to get in the zone. It's a great feeling so worth a go and worth perservering. Like a lot of things you have to repeat it regularly to train your brain.

The voice is very relaxing and the CD gives you the full training for about 45 minutes then a 15 minute relaxation which is useful if you don't always have the time to do the full session, especially to relax you for bed. The booklet with CD is good too explaining the theory and practice well.

Good value for money.

Having used hypnosis for my driving test I was intrigued to find that some women used it for the birthing process. I purchased this cd at 5 months pregnant thinking it was worth a try! I never write reviews but have to for this. You hear so many horror stories about peoples birth and labour throughout your pregnancy that you can only hope yours wont be like theirs. I listened to this having transferred it to my ipod a couple of times a week leading upto the birth of my son I'd listen to it on the train to work, before going to bed and sometimes in the evening I had a very relaxed and healthy pregnancy and attribute this to the cd. But the real test was always going to be the labour Well I had my son two weeks ago and I've heard only a few stories about a smooth birth and mine was one of them. I had the breathing technique down and used it from 7 o'clock in the evening of the friday that I'd gone into labour, it was 12 o'clock that night that I realised they were definitely contractions, I continued managing on my own until contractions were 3 mins apart and then my hubby drove me to hospital, 9 O'clock the Saturday morning The midwives could not believe it when they saw I was 5cm dilated and would be staying in. They said that I was so calm and that whatever it was I was doing to keep it up. They expected to come back and check me at 1 in the afternoon to see how much further dilated I Was, but by 12.05 Saturday afternoon my son was born, with only half a cm tear and no stitches needed. I'd describe my sons birth as quick, controlled and calm! So glad I purchased and used this disc, it will be passed on to all my friends when they are pregnant!

I was terrified of childbirth and desperate to try anything that might help. So desperate, I bought this CD on the recommendation of a midwife, but had no expectation that it would actually work. I listened to it about six times in the six weeks before my due date and only heard it right through to the end one of those times (falling asleep halfway through during all the other times). However, falling asleep is not necessarily a bad thing as it shows you are relaxed and, it apparently still works while you are asleep.

I had no idea how well it had worked until the day I went into labour. I used a tens machine, didn't need drugs and was so calm during each contraction, the midwife had to ask me whether I was actually having one! Another midwife identified immediately that I had tried hypnobirthing and my calmness was discussed widely amongst staff! Of course, as my first experience of labour, I have no idea how I would have coped otherwise, but considering how great my fear felt beforehand, I feel confident in saying this CD contributed to a positive, calm experience and helped me cope with what turned into a potentially stressful situation (undiagnosed breech). My baby also remained calm throughout. I am very glad I purchased this.

I bought this after reading the reviews on here. Hypnosis is not something I had practiced before and to be honest I found the cd quite funny when I first listened to it.

When I went on maternity leave at 37 weeks, I listened to it most days. I thought of it as a good excuse to chill out for half an hour or so. Most times I fell asleep when listening to it so wasn't convinced it would have any effect. What it did do however was remove the fear of going into labour.

When labour came, 9 days after my due date, I listened to the cd thru out. I arrived at the hospital already 7cm! The midwife couldn't believe it as I was so calm. I played the cd in the delivery room also, I think it was driving my partner mad at this point! My contractions didn't seem painfull, just intense and natural. I listened to my body and knew when it was time to push. I even fell asleep between pushes, something that really confused the midwife and my partner! He thought I had forgotten that I was in labour!

After 20 hours of labour, our beautiful baby boy came into the world weighing 9lb 7. No pain relief was needed, and I would do the whole thing again in a heartbeat.

Thanks to this cd, I am able to say I had an amazing birth experience, something which you don't hear very often from women who are only too keen to share their horrendous experiences.

If u are wondering whether or not to buy this cd, DO IT. For the sake of a tenner, you could experience the most incredible birth which u will look back on and want to do it again and again. Now on many women say that!!!

I looked into hypnotherapy for the birth of my second child, as with my first I had an elective caesarean for breech presentation and I wanted this experience to be totally different. Initially I looked Hypnobirthing but preferred the thought of having a familiar English voice talking me through it. Since the birth I have recommended this to every single pregnant woman I know. Natal Hypnotherapy allowed me to birth my child completely naturally without any pain relief and in the comfort of my own home. My labour was 6 hours long which is relatively short for a first timer- so to speak. I started listening to the cd at about 30 weeks and gradually increased the time towards the end of my pregnancy. To be honest I usually fell asleep when listening so was still a bit sceptical when it came to the labour. But I remembered all the visualisations and the count down dial and was amazed at how calm I was throughout. My midwife had experience with NH so was very reassuring. I think this cd is a great investment for the money, and would urge you to try it with an open mind. I am now pregnant with my third and can't wait to experience labour again with the help of Natal Hyonotherapy. Thanks Maggie.

What a great excuse it was to put my feet up everyday and relax for 40 minutes! I used this CD on my lunch break everyday at work, and as I worked right up to the due date, it was a godsend to be able to retreat into my own little bubble everyday. I would come out of it feeling refreshed, content, and really connected to my bump and baby - excited about the birth ahead!

It was only when I was in labour that the full benefits were visible. Within a few minutes of this CD being on, my body and mind were so used to listening to this and feeling relaxed, that during the birth, my husband said my whole body would literally go soft as soon as it came on. The 3,2,1 relax was the biggest tool we used from this cd, and also the time distortion - my contractions really did feel shorter than they actually were, and the time in between each one did feel long enough for me to re-energise and be ready for the next wave! I also have this memory when I was breathing the baby out - it just didn't hurt like I was expecting.....it was like "putty" as Maggie put it. Amazing!

I still listen to this now from time to time with my baby - the familiar voice helps us unwind, and it's a nice treat to go back to my special places during the visualisation.

My advice is to stick with it - make it part of your routine during your pregnancy, and you will see and feel the benefits for you and your baby. The mind is a powerful thing - and the body is an amazing machine. I don't think we give it enough credit.

Being a first time mum, I was very aprehensive about giving birth. I used this cd & listened to it everyday towards the end of my pregnancy. I had a very quick labour - about 5 hours from start to finish of which most I laboured at home without drugs! I used the techniques detailed in this cd, and even though the pains were immense I had confidence in my own body to do what women have been doing for centuries! I recommend this cd to all my friends! Worth every penny!

This CD is great for preparing you for birth. I've been listening to it regularly and have found it has eliminated my fear of labour and even made me look forward to the birth. It's increased my sense of trust in my own body to be able to cope with the demands of labour, no matter how the baby is born. I'm due in two weeks so it will be interesting to see how the CD helps me on the day. Anyway, as a calming tool during pregnancy it's well worth the money.

I was sceptical about this but I feel it is helping me to relax and practise visualisation in preparation for labour. However it is so relaxing I still haven't heard the end as I keep falling asleep! It is intended to be listened to consciously but hearing it as I sleep probably does no harm. A shame there is only one main track (after the introduction) with a shorter track for use as a reminder during labour. That would be my only criticism.
