A language all to quickly forgotten
on 15 June 2011
This book compiles a language that has all-but disappeared from the North-East. Its attention to detail and flawless research earns its place with any linguistic text book found in a typical university library. It reveals how the North-East vernacular language originated and evolved, highlighting its heritage in Denmark and Holland, as-well-as Norse and Anglo-Saxon origins.
Not only does this book give extensive information on the language of the miners, but it gives a more in-depth understanding of their lives and occupation.
Bill Griffiths has let his true passion for his adopted home flow from every chapter. A marvel of a book, and a must read to anyone who this subject has or will affect.
