5.0 out of 5 stars A very good guide
This is a very good guide to the German Panzer divisions of World War Two. Each Army Panzer division is covered, the SS divisions have their own book. And most of the vehicles whether tracked, wheeled, captured or German that they would have used is covered with some very nice illustrations. The only thing not covered as far as I could tell was the Hermann Goering Panzer...

2.0 out of 5 stars Pretty but Flawed
I have most of the armour related books in this series and sadly they all seem to suffer from poor proof reading. I have the reprinted version of this book so the editor has had time to correct the more gearing errors but has spectacularly failed to do so. Examples of problems are, mislabelled pictures, totally incorrect pictures, bad grammar and typos. Not really...

This review is from: Wehrmacht Panzer Divisions (Essential Tank Identificat/Gde): 1939 - 45 (Hardcover)
This is a very good guide to the German Panzer divisions of World War Two. Each Army Panzer division is covered, the SS divisions have their own book. And most of the vehicles whether tracked, wheeled, captured or German that they would have used is covered with some very nice illustrations. The only thing not covered as far as I could tell was the Hermann Goering Panzer but that was technically a Luftwaffe unit and the Gross Deutschland unit, which might have been a large Panzer Grenadier unit. My only real moan is the cost because its been out of print for a while. The two companion volumes are just as good (the Waffen SS Divisions and the Panzer Grenadier divisions) and usually cheaper!

I have the reprinted version of this book so the editor has had time to correct the more gearing errors but has spectacularly failed to do so. Examples of problems are, mislabelled pictures, totally incorrect pictures, bad grammar and typos. Not really forgivable in the first run but unthinkable in the reprint. That aside, the book does ok at giving a brief summary of the history of the panzer divisions. Where the book excels (and why I have most of them) is in the quality of the vehicle drawings. If you are a modeler and want inspiration for a colour scheme you can do a lot worse than looking at these books.
