5.0 out of 5 stars Excel-lent, 19 May 2009
This review is from: Excelis Rising (Doctor Who) (Audio CD)
Second story in the 'Excelis' trilogy; this is set over a thousand years after the events of the first story 'Excelis Dawns'. Writer David McIntee has the thankless task of providing the middle section to the three part Excelis story arc, after the success of 'Excelis Dawns'. However, he acquits himself well, and actor Anthony Head seems to fit the character of `Grayvorn' like a glove. Colin Baker's Doctor is as assured as you'd expect, while director Ed Salt keeps things simmering along nicely. To top it off, suitably eerie music makes this an atmospheric and intriguing audio adventure.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Second Part Of The Excelis Trilogy, 8 Mar 2014

This review is from: Excelis Rising (Doctor Who) (Audio CD)
CD Info.
1xCD, Running time 70minutes approx.

1)Solomon is named after Colin Bakers character from BBV The Stranger Series.
2)This is he second part in the Excelis trilogy.
3)Anthony Stewart Head auditioned for he role of Doctor Who for the 1996 tv movie but lost out to Paul McGann.

Over 1000 years has passed since the Doctor last visited Excelis in his previous Fifth incarnation & how much has changed since then.

Artaris now has evolved with Science & engineering proving to be the new age of reasoning as an Empire has now been formed & Artaris is enjoying being known of it's achievements throughout the universe.

When the Sixth Doctor arrives on Artaris he discovers that somethings never change as death follows the unholy relic to the halls of the imperial museum.

The Doctor helps the local authorities with these mysterious turn of events & meets a character named Reeve Maupassant whom seems strangely familiar to the Doctor & to events of Excelis past history?

Yet surely nobody lives for over a 1000 year's on Excelis do they?

Timelord Thoughts.
This is a far superior audio adventure than the lacklustre Excelis Dawn as Excelis Rising has a far more engaging story written by writer David A.McIntee who delivers a good pace to this audio adventure aided by a great mystery for the Doctor to solve.

This audio adventure has great convincing strong performances by star's Colin Baker & Anthony Stewart Head & the supporting cast also deliver good performances.

This audio adventure delivers from the off & doesn't stop being an enthralling tale with a brilliant climax that sets up the final part to this trilogy with the Seventh Doctor in Excelis Decay.

Superb production values & great sound effects enhance the suspense of this intriguing audio adventure which delivers 70 minutes of high quality entertainment.
