This review is from: The Skymines of Karthos (Professor Bernice Summerfield) (Audio CD)
A scientist examines the corpse of a bat-like creature on a hostile planet. Outside the safety of the dome, something is stirring...

Getting alien voices right is quite a tall order. Too often once has to resort to someone shouting stilted english through an effects unit, which can work but often doesn't. 'Karthos' at least gets that right with a truly unworldly noise for its curious aliens; it is this sound that elevates the story above what could have been nothing special.

It's a bit talky at times, with fewer opportunities for Bernice's caustic wit, but reasonably compelling nonetheless. Many reviews elsewhere will tell you that this story is not up to much which is I think rather unfair. Slow, yes; weird, definitely; but not the disaster it is cracked up to be.
