My 11 year old son has just finished reading this fantastic book at school and I cant recommend it enough! It's a great story, simply told with lovely illustrations dotted throughout. Tom Crean is a great hero for young and old alike. In this era of reality tv `stars' and computer simulated `heros', Tom Creans story paints a picture of real heroism worthy of our admiration. This is a truly wonderful story and a really great read for boys (and girls) of any age. It would make a great gift for any child - buy it!

Yet another unsung Hero of early Antarctic Exploration

Obviously well researched, and well written. Just like Smith's book about Oates..

Really well written, clear biography of a wonderful man. Easy to read to children and a great start for learning about this extraordinary man.

this is a review by my 10 year old son

I think Tom Crean has a bit too many numbers. At the start i didn't really like it but as it went on I couldn't stop myself from reading it. When you get further into the book you keep on reading because you want to know what happens. That's what I think a good book makes you do

recommended to those who like biographies and Irish history

Had meant this for my husband, but found it more for older children. We gave it to our grandson who was pleased with it.
We are interested in Tom Crean, along with Shackleton, and wish in the near future to order again, Tom Crean for Adults, and 'Shackleton's Captain' - Worsley.
Good Service! My mistake in ordering.
