This review is from: Nice Work, Little Wolf! (Paperback)
I have always liked this book and have now bought three copies for various children. The detailed pictures are great for children to find details in and the story is an interesting take on the fairy story on which it is based.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pleasingly subversive, 26 April 2010
This review is from: Nice Work, Little Wolf! (Paperback)
This book turns conventions upside down and has a dry sense of humour - the pig family take advantage of the under-nourished little wolf who at the beginning of the story lives with his impoverished widow mother and then accidentally arrives in their garden. As time passes, the pig family increasingly expect little wolf to do their bidding and their housework, not noticing that he is growing bigger as time passes. All ends happily and justly, with the pigs scared away and the now big wolf providing a comfortable home for his mother. The illustrations and the text are delightful; and children love subversive stories! If you - and the children you read to - are bored with the predictable, you will find this book great fun.
