This book is a wonderful example of the spirit of Rugby League fans. Full marks to the Author Ray Gent and also of all the contributers to the book.
I could not put the book down and ending up reading it in one day. I certainly went through the emotions while reading this book. From anger at the journalists who take cheap shots at the sport to disappointment of the people running rugby league.
Ray manages to include all the passion without slipping into any biased views or keeping to one side of events. The sheer integrity of the book shines through at all times.
You have to buy this book, for the love of the sport and the quest of justice. It's a truly great read, and one that should not only inspire great feelings but also to inspire all rugby league fans to unite for greater good of the sport.
A true credit to Rugby League.
Andrew

5.0 out of 5 stars 30000 people can't be wrong!, 5 Mar 2002

This review is from: The Petition, The: Rugby League Fans Say Enough is Enough (Paperback)
This book is a wonderful example of how the British live and breath their sporting heritage. It is the story of how the fans of rugby league are speaking up and defending their sport against the negative reporting that emanates from some areas of the media.
The book quotes from some of the articles that sparked fury within the ranks of rugby league supporters and gives an account of how the petition against the bias was collected.
This book offers views on the subject from all walks of life, including MPs, reporters, players and fans. It also gives an interesting insight into the thoughts of some of the people who run the game and the clubs - and it's not always what you might expect.
All in all the book is an enjoyable and fascinating read for anyone and not just those who are fans of rugby league.

5.0 out of 5 stars A first in Rugby League publishing, 26 Aug 2003

This review is from: The Petition, The: Rugby League Fans Say Enough is Enough (Paperback)
This book outlines the history of the disgraceful attempt by the rugby union authorities to undermine and perhaps even destroy the game of rugby league.
In 1895, following a refusal by the London based rulers of the game of rugby to allow the working men of the North of England payment for work lost in order to play, the game split into the two codes we now know. Ever since, the English Rugby Football Union has fought to suppress the sport of rugby league, now a very different game from their own. This book describes their latest attempt to undermine the game and the way in which rugby league fans united to prevent this action.
Rugby league is now a strong, exciting game which is spreading widely in Britain and abroad.Much of this development is due to its fans whose action is described here.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful book, 12 Mar 2002
This review is from: The Petition, The: Rugby League Fans Say Enough is Enough (Paperback)
I received my copy yesterday (11-Mar-2001) and read the book the same day. Loved every page. The depth of feeling from the contributors made me proud to be a Rugby League fan. Well done to Ray Gent and everybody else associated with the petition and the book. I hope this signals a start to an uprising of fan power.
