This is a great book for the beginner, helps to make it much easier to understand and learn the Tarot.

Yes, the probably is only for beginners and perhaps I needed a book a little more advanced. Otherwise yes, it is good for the novice.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is real fortune telling (and not psychobubbles), 4 Feb 2008

This review is from: Fortune-Telling by Tarot Cards: A Beginner's Guide to Understanding the Tarot (Paperback)
Now that I have this book in my hands I understand why it has sold over 600.000 copies since it's in print (that's an impressive figure for a book on tarot, isn't it?) ... Sasha Fenton's style is simple and accessible and she gives very precise, down-to-earth and above all *predictive* and *not sugarcoated* meanings for each card.

I've read many books on tarot, in Italian, French and English and I think that the problem with the English-language books on this subject is that too many times they approach the tarot only,or above all, from a psychological point of view: this is great, tarot can be used in many ways. But if one is willing to use the cards in order to tell fortunes and predict or describe quite precisely and in details a situation (and not only "energies in motion", blocks and fears) then these books can do little for you.

"Fortune telling by tarot cards" can be easily considered the book in English more similar to the ones you can find in the Italian or French book market. Yes, it is very concise but it gives you the basis to get started. I strongly recommend this book to every beginner willing to approach tarot from a fortune telling perspective, as well as to more advanced readers willing to learn a more predictive way to read the cards.
