What a cracking little book!
Nice to read a book on Kubrick by someone who isn't completely dazzled by the myth that surrounds the man. Good, too, to see someone who has the guts to finger 'A Clockwork Orange' for what it is: an overrated work whose lack of availability is the sole reason for its status.

Essentially, what we have here is a badly-written pamphlet containing sketchy descriptions of Kubrick's films (including lots of direct lifts from the IMDB), some simple analysis and biographical information, all wrapped up in a writing style that would fit the University of Plymouth student newspaper perfectly. Generally quite shoddy, although the cover has a nice velvety effect.
(Typical example: 'it is rumoured that 2001 missed out [on the 1968 make-up Academy Award] because judges were convinved that real apes were used, which was not the case.'
Full stop. No quotes from irate and misunderstood judges, no references, nothing. Just a statement of opinion, passed off as fact.)....
