This review is from: Culinary Jottings for Madras (Paperback)
This excellent book is a facsimile copy of the original from 1850's, it was to teach the English officers wife how to run a household in India and teach the native cook. They had to follow London fashions, so dinner parties were much simpler than previously with only a starter, a fish course, a soup, two mains, a sweet dish, cheese and a dessert, followed by coffee and petite fours as the norm! Curry, although excellent, plays only a small part in the book.
