2.0 out of 5 stars Dry to read, needs more informative diagrams, 14 April 2002

This review is from: Portuguese Table Wines: The New Generation of Wines and Winemakers (Hardcover)
If I could have flicked through the book I would have probably not bought this. However, it is one of the most recent books on the area and was what I needed for my wine exam.
This book lacks animation in the form of tables, detailed clear maps of sub regions, wine labels, informative pictures WITH AN ACCOMPANYING LEGEND. Most of the photos seem under exposed and there is not legend to explain the photographs on the page.
Just compare this to Oz Clarke and Rands book on types on A-Z of grapes (or what ever) and there is a chalk and cheese difference - yet they are the same price.
I presume the sponsors for this book - some portugese wine association - ran out of money.
A reasonable read and it does have relevant information for my exam but is hard to get though.
