5.0 out of 5 stars Really good book
I am a painter and I really admire the work of Peter Lanyon and I really like this book. The images are beautifully reproduced. There aren't that many books on Peter Lanyon but I feel that this is one of the better ones. 1.0 out of 5 stars rubbish...
too wordy by far, and where are all the large colour plates, learn to let the paintings speak and the book would be way better...

There aren't that many books on Peter Lanyon but I feel that this is one of the better ones. I think his work is much underated compared with other artists who lived and worked in St Ives for example Hepworth and Nicholson but I think his work is just as valid if not more as he was born and lived in St Ives unlike many other artists of the same period who passed through St Ives.
I would like the book on his drawings next!

I have to confess to a bit of disappointment on receiving this book. It has some great reproductions of Lanyon's work which deserves greater recognition and exposure, but I was expecting a book that was more about the pictures rather than one that reads like an M.A. submission. Nevertheless, I ploughed on and read through the book that puts the work into an historical perspective and found that I was sorry to reach the end. A book that concentrates on Lanyon's catalogue of work would be good; in the meantime, this is probably the best available. For all that I might criticise the style, this is worth buying.

I bought this for my mother on the strength of the 'customers who bought...also bought....' - so neither of us had heard of it before - but she says it's excellent
