It's in t'buck, wi't'pictures to tell thee worrit means. T'purrit in words tha'll understand,
It dus worrit ses on t' tin...

Dun't tha luv 'way t'suthenners gerrit wrong?
"Eeeeeh lad, are thee goink to catch th' boooos?' Ha Ha !"

Good Grief!!
There's a bit of stuff in here that I never heard before but the great majority of it is very familiar, and not that dreadful T.V. actor "northern-ness" one tends to hear assaulting one's sensibilities from overheard snatches of soap operas and their like.

In t'time befooar t'internet it were all stuff tha' knew.
It weren't on t'internet an it in't all on t'internet now. Tha' needs a buck.
This is t'book.
Burrit in't a raight big 'un.
It's a littl'un an' it'd fit in thi pocket, wi't'ferret if tha's gorra ferret or wi'out a ferret if tha'ant got one.

Bought this for a stocking filler for my husband (Sheffield born and bred but now living overseas
) for Christmas - it's only a little book but full of real old and commonly used sheffield phrases - he loved it - unfortunatley he's taken to using some of the phrases again!!!!

a wonderful little book that needed to be written,it should be distributed in schools,to protect this beautiful dialect, because sooner or later the p.c crowd will get their claws in,and that'll be it(i hope not).
