We bought this as a present for a fan of mods based on the good reviews on amazon. On flicking through before wrapping up, I was disappointed that it wasn't very attractive - it has a lot of text in quite a smallish font without being spaced out with pictures, that being said, the friend really enjoyed the book and said that it was a really good collection of writings. Definitely for you if you are a true enthusiast looking to deepen your knowledge, but you may be disappointed if you are after a coffee table book.

I purchased the book to get a feel of how Mod started, developed and shaped society. It works because rather than one writer giving there views and submissions the book contains stories, comments and viewpoints from a vast array of various writers and commentators. In simple terms its a must for those who were,or ever wanted to be a Mod!

A compulsive read for anyone with a interest in all things Mod and told in an almost story telling form...as essays which vary from early jazz inclined Modernists to Jamaican rude boys... some photos wouldn't have gonne ammis but the aims are clear and you get what you expect... maybe wanting a little bit extra.

1980's Mod rally exclusive photos, as well as never before seen photos of Paul Weller, Steve Marriot and The Jam, Specials etc are part of the Mod experience of the following book This is Our Generation Calling: Punk and Mod in and Around Sheffield - The Conclusion

Two or three good looks at this "Mod" period.
But the book is cheap : no pictures, and if you open it too fast somme pages fall apart. Very cheap.
