This collection of activities can be handy to have in the ESL cupboard but it fails on several points. First, the illustrations used are busy and fussy; clearer artwork would have facilitated the book's use with younger students. Second, activities, even those which are intended to introduce or practice basic lexical items such as "the weather" or "family", require a good deal of meta-language. It must be said that the book is designed with "pre-intermediate/ intermediate" students in mind but the activities involved too much incidental vocab and required too high a level of grammatical and structural ability for my pre-intermediate class. Thirdly, the estimated time indicators are so way off as to be meaningless. Lastly, and most seriously, the editing of this collection seems to have been rather haphazard and on two occasions (out of the 6 or 7 times I have used this book in class)mistakes in the printing or putting together of the activities has made them impossible to complete.
Timesaver Vocabulary Activities is something to have on hand for emergencies or for filler but do check the activities before use.
